Report – 3 January 2018

Wild, wet and windy weather did not stop 130 New Year's Eve revellers seeing in 2018 in style!

Ollie and his team did a brilliant job of looking after us with Prosecco, beer and delicious nibbles, followed by mushroom or chicken stroganoff, and then a selection of brownie bites, flapjacks, fruit skewers, mini mince pies, plus an endless cheeseboard and coffee. Ollie had lost two of his staff to the 'flu bug doing the rounds and so an extra thank you to his depleted team, who had to work extra hard.

Two weeks prior to the event we were let down by our band whose lead singer was ill, so a HUGE thank you to Paul Brown who gamely agreed to swap from guest to DJ – he did a brilliant job and kept the dance floor busy all night.

After the draw for the magnum of champagne (congratulations to Nicky Morris) we experienced an almost seamless switch to London to joined the rest of the country in counting down to midnight and watching the fabulous fireworks, all with a glass of champagne in hand.

Thank you for the great feedback – the 'no frills and no formality but lots of fun' theme seems to have hit the spot!

Hopefully Ollie and the team managed to clear up all the party poppers, balloons, confetti, hats and general detritus, in time for the New Year's Day Brunch.

A very Happy New Year to everybody – prosperous would be good, but happy and healthy will do nicely.

From the House Committee
