MOROCCAN SUMMER PARTY
Saturday 10 June 2017

The Moroccan Summer Party last Saturday was a huge success. Having come within a whisker of cancelling the event in the week prior to the party due to slow ticket sales, we ended up turning people away on the day! In the end, 110 guests filled the Club. The weather was kind to us and a beautiful sunny evening was followed by a still night with a stunning near-full moon.

The House Committee and a few extra helpers (a huge thank you to you all) did a wonderful job of transforming the Wet Bar into an indoor garden, the snug into a dining area, the soft area into a Hammam complete with swagged ceilings, and the dining room into a dance & relaxation area. The decoration of sofas, chairs, tables and walls with brightly coloured throws, scarves, cushions, rugs and candles, plus the soft aroma of incense (only incense) filling the air, meant that we could have been forgiven for thinking we had been transported to Marrakesh for the night.....

Ollie and his team did a truly fantastic job all evening. Guests were greeted with a delicious Moroccan Green Tea cocktail on arrival, which slipped down very easily. Seemingly endless trays of delicious chicken or prawn-filled wraps were then handed round, as well as bowls of lamb or chickpea tagine with couscous & flatbreads.  These were followed by trays of mouthful-sized fresh fruit skewers, baklava and brownies. Delicious!

Live music came from Daisy B − comprising Daisy and Tom on both guitars and vocals − who sang brilliant covers of everything ranging from The Beatles, Bob Marley, Amy Winehouse, Daft Punk and many more.

The Commodore was the last to leave the dance floor.....

A super evening, so again, a massive thank you to all those who spent many hours planning and putting it together (and taking it apart again on Sunday morning), and to all of you who came and enjoyed it!
