ESC CENTENARY REGATTA
Amidst the build-up for the evening’s entertainment a steady flow of entrants arrived on the terrace, eventually reaching a total of 90 – the best attendance for several years.
At the request of some regular competitors, new shorter courses for the Fast Handicap and Laser/Aero starts were trialled. How prudent this proved: mother nature flexed her muscles and stirred up a cheeky 4 to 5, keeping our eight patrol boats fully occupied. This breezy arrival resulted in very broad smiles from the 200s, full flight for 400s and commendable efforts from the Teras – even the Laser 5000 finished!
So what made this Centenary Regatta work so well? One simple factor: TEAMWORK! From the sign-on team to the tally ladies, data entry, all the bridge team, those brave souls in the patrol boats, flags, recorders and beach masters to the squad who served the teas, all those who supplied an amazing variety of cakes and last but by no means least Ollie and all his team – thank you all.
