A BIG ESC Thank You!

I would like to thank absolutely everybody who helped to make The BIG ESC Weekend such an enormous success. The four events – Sarah Ayton's excellent talk, the Strictly Vintage Tea Party, the Centenary Ball and Wind Down Sunday – had been in the planning for nearly three years and ,as with all such things, a huge number of people were involved in pulling it all together on time. So whether you are a committee member, one of the many Club volunteers, or one of the 500+ guests who came to the Club over the weekend, a HUGE thank you.

What a weekend it was!

Members' Photos

We would love you to send in your photos of the weekend, to add to the 'official' pictures already on the Club website, so please email them to webmaster@emsworthsc.org.uk and we will put them in a Members' Photo Area for all to enjoy.

Centenary Exhibition & The North Room

The Centenary Exhibition in the North Room was another great success, with several hundred people visiting it during June. We will be putting the posters up, one at a time, over the coming months. Again, I would like to thank all of our small but very hard-working committee for the two plus years of work putting the exhibition together – John Williams, Ade Fox, Don Manson, Dennis Welch, Kate White and Ali Beckett, a dream team.

If you missed it, the Exhibition will be in Emsworth Museum for the month of August.

Now that the North Room is back in action for the juniors, please could I ask both juniors and their parents to check that the room is left as you'd like to find it. Ollie's staff frequently have to clean up a lot of mess, especially after busy sessions such as Happy Hour.  Thank you in advance.

Forthcoming Centenary Events

There are plenty of Centenary events still to come:

  • James Blake's talk on Thursday 18 July 1900: Life on Board the Volvo Ocean Race – A Cameraman's Perspective. FOC, sign up on the noticeboard right now – it's going to be a brilliant talk.
  • ESC Regatta followed by the ESCIVAL Regatta Party, on Saturday 31 August. Please save the date and look out for more info in all the usual places – it's going to be a biggy.
If you are able to make a cake for the Regatta Tea, please sign up on the Club noticeboard.
  • Terrace Party on Saturday 7 September, 1830-2000, in aid of the Blake Young Sailors Fund. Save the date – more details to follow.

Meanwhile, enjoy the lovely sunshine!
