CENTENARY SWIMMING GALA REPORT
10 June 2019

ESC's Centenary Swimming Gala, open to all ages, was held last Saturday.

Organised by Ian and Roz Williams, the fantastic turnout included children from as young as 4 up to 11 years of age, of all standards of swimming ability. The one rule was 'Have FUN!'

Ian and Roz did a great job structuring all the races to keep the kids interested.  There were the classics: front crawl, backstroke, breast stroke, butterfly and a relay; and then fun events – a 'swap life jackets' relay, an underwater competition and a 'swap t-shirt' relay! Shrieks of laughter and cheers of encouragement could be heard from far and wide. The mantra 'Have FUN!' was definitely being fulfilled.

While the children were competing parents had a chance to take a rest-bite and relax in the lovely surroundings of the pool while catching some of spring sun. Before we knew it an hour had passed and it was time for the prizegiving.  There were cups for race winners as well as spot prizes, ensuring that everyone was recognised for their achievements.

All in all it was a fantastic afternoon with fun had by everyone.  A HUGE thanks to Ian and Roz for organising such a great event!

PS We hear there may be more of the same fun during CoW Week! Watch this space ...
